THAT’S LIFE
Some songs don’t age.
They just wait until you’ve lived enough to understand them.
When Frank Sinatra sings, “You’re riding high in April, shot down in May,” he’s not complaining. He’s describing the weather report of being human.
One month you’re getting promotions.
The next you’re getting test results.
One week the phone won’t stop ringing.
The next, it’s painfully quiet.
That’s life.
We spend so much energy trying to build a life where nothing goes wrong. But maybe the better goal is becoming someone who can keep going when it does.
Notice Sinatra never says the falls don’t hurt. He simply refuses to let them become the final chapter.
He gets back up.
Again.
And again.
Resilience isn’t pretending everything is okay.
It’s deciding that one bad day doesn’t get to write your whole story.
The people we admire most aren’t the ones who avoided failure. They’re the ones who collected enough scars to prove they kept showing up.
Life has a way of knocking the wind out of us.
But it also has a funny habit of rewarding those who stand back up, straighten their jacket, and take one more step.
Maybe that’s the secret.
Not a perfect life.
Just the courage to keep singing your song, even after you’ve forgotten the words for a while.
After all…
That’s life.
