CATCH SOMEONE

Kevin Hines was 19 when he walked onto the Golden Gate Bridge intending to end his life.

People passed him that morning.

No one stopped.

He jumped—and survived.

In the seconds after letting go, Kevin said something became painfully clear: the problems he thought were impossible to fix were fixable.

He went on to become a suicide-prevention advocate, sharing his story so others might hold on a little longer.

And in 2023, safety nets were finally installed beneath the Golden Gate Bridge.

Think about that.

A place that once represented an ending now has something underneath it designed to catch people.

Maybe that’s our calling, too.

We can’t fix everyone’s problems.

We can’t always know what someone is carrying.

But we can notice.

We can ask.

We can listen.

We can stay.

Sometimes being a Caring Catalyst simply means being the person who provides a little net beneath someone else’s difficult day.

So, before you rush through today, look around.

Someone may need you to notice.

And remember:

You don’t have to save the world.
Just don’t miss the person standing right in front of you.
