WHEN THE ROCK DOESN’T ROLL

Have you ever heard of “gray rocking”?

It’s the practice of responding to difficult people with the emotional energy of a gray rock: calm, brief, neutral, and unreactive.

Someone pushes your buttons—you don’t push back.

Someone wants an argument—you don’t take the bait.

Someone tries to pull you into their drama—you simply don’t roll.

There is something deeply spiritual about that.

Not every battle requires your voice.
Not every accusation requires an answer.
Not every invitation to anger deserves your attendance.

Sometimes the most caring thing you can do—for yourself and even for the other person—is to refuse to feed what is unhealthy.

You don’t have to become hard.
You just have to become harder to provoke.
