CHRISTMAS IN JULY

Last week I posted on my social media accounts how much THIS PICTURE reminded me of CHRISTMAS, saying, IF CHRISTMAS HAD A LOOK, this is what it would be because this was done on Christmas Eve in 1998 at a little dollar sketch booth in the middle of the Mall. . .so if Christmas has an UN-TRADITIONAL LOOK how about a Sound; a Song?

Have you ever noticed that some songs completely ignore the calendar?

They’re not Christmas songs. They don’t mention snow, sleigh bells, or Santa. Yet somehow, the first few notes play, and suddenly you’re mentally untangling Christmas lights, looking for eggnog, and wondering if it’s too early to put up the tree.

THIS ONE, TRADITIONS OF CHRISTMAS by Mannheim Steamroller does that to me every single time.

It’s funny how a simple melody can carry us back to moments we thought we’d forgotten—family gathered around the table, children too excited to sleep, candlelight on Christmas Eve, and the quiet reminder that hope has not only ONCE UPON A TIME entered the world but pops back in numerous times, or all the time, especially when we need it or simply just NOTICE IT!

So today, near the end of July, let the music remind you of more than Christmas memories. Let it remind you Christmas and all of its memories and feelings/spirit can’t be nicely ornately boxed up in a mere 31 days of December., or any other specific time. Let it remind you peace, joy, and hope are just as real on a hot July morning as they are on a cold December night.

Now I have to ask…

What’s the one song that isn’t a Christmas song… but instantly makes you think of Christmas?

(And no fair judging anyone who secretly wants to put up the tree this afternoon, err, me, who never takes his down!)
